Seattle, Washington Nov. 24, 2003 – Before design professionals, building owners, or construction managers undertake a remodeling or renovation project, they must first obtain a set of existing conditions drawings. In order to get accurate, up-to-date drawings, also referred to as “as-builts,” they typically send a junior colleague to the site with a measuring tape, pad and pencil where they gather the measurements by hand. Often times, additional site visits are required to recheck the measurements, causing delays in the project. As might be expected, this is a time-consuming, error-prone, and expensive method of gathering the information.

Now Midpoint CAD LLC, a Seattle based company that provides CAD, design, consulting and as-built services, offers an innovative, faster and more accurate way to obtain as-builts.

Utilizing the latest in laser technology, Midpoint first uses a laser measurement tool to quickly gather measurements. What makes the process unique is that these measurements are transferred directly into a PDA where special software automatically translates them into ready-to-use CAD drawings. Midpoint is then able to quickly provide their client with a set of drawings along with the CAD files on CD.
